Panama has a wide range of cultural and natural resources to offer to the nature lovers. There are six different Indians Cultures, each one still keep their own ancestral traditions. Encounter the Kuna Kingdom of San Blas Islands and the Embera tribe in the Panama Canal watershed. Enjoy nature with a hike at the mountains of Chiriqui to observe the elusive Quetzal, and Bocas del Toro, an Afro-Panamanian tropical paradise.

 
             

Itinerary
Day 1 Panama City

Upon arrival we are met and transferred to selected hotel. Panama is known mostly for its famous canal. This overlooked country offers some of the finest birding, snorkeling and deep-sea fishing in the Americas.

Day 2 Chagres National Park/Indian Village
After breakfast we visit a pristine paradise. We start our way out of Panama city riding a "piragua" (a native boat) following a route commonly used by the Indians for their daily transport along the Chagres River. On arrival we will enjoy a hike through the forest with a local indigenous guide who will explain the botanical aspects of the trail and the culture of this authentic Chocoe-Embera village one of the five tribes that inhabits in Panama. In the village members of the tribe will share their culture through dances, rituals, food, etc. If you are brave enough, you can partake in "jagua" body painting with vegetable ink. Return to Panama. Overnight at selected hotel (BL)

Day 3 Panama-San Blas Islands
Morning transfer to the airport for a 25-minute flight to Porvenir airstrip on Panama’s Atlantic Coast. On arrival we are transferred by motorized dugout canoe to the very rustic, and charming, San Blas Lodge on Nalunega Island where we’ll interact with the Kuna Indians. Overnight at San Blas Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 4 San Blas Islands
Day at leisure. Rent (or bring your own) snorkeling gear and explore the beautiful reefs in San Blas. Relax on white-sand beaches or in a hammock under the palms. Overnight at San Blas Lodge (BLD)

Day 5 Panama City
This morning transfer to the airstrip for flight to Panama City. Ona arrival transfer to our hotel. Free afternoon for relaxing or shopping. Optional: folkloric show and dinner at Tinajas Restaurant. Overnight at selected hotel.

Day 6 Chiriqui Cloud Forest
Early morning we fly to David in the western province of Chiriqui, bordering Costa Rica. The Gulf of Chiriqui is a 14,740 hectare National Marine Park that protects coral reefs, islands and beaches with abound wild life. On arrival we will be transferred to the picturesque mountain town of Boquete. We spend the afternoon on these beautiful highlands hiking, riding or taking another optional tours such as visiting a private flower garden or coffee plantation. Overnight at selected hotel (B)

Day 7 Boquete/Baru Volcano
After breakfast we explore the trails around the Baru Volcano National Park with a naturalist guide. At an elevation of 7,500 feet, we will see the elusive and resplendent Quetzal in its mountain habitat of wild orchids and bromelaids. Box lunch in the field. Overnight at selected hotel. (BL)

Day 8 Boquete-Bocas del Toro
Today after breakfast transfer to the airport for flight to Bocas del Toro in the Caribbean. Here you will experience Afro-Panamanian culture. Transfer to hotel in Bocas. Rest of the day free for town exploration or optional tours. (B)


Day 9 Bocas del Toro
After breakfast tour Bastimentos Marine National Park for snorkeling, beach combing and an outdoor lunch. Overnight at hotel in Bocas. (BL)

Day 10 Bocas-Panama City
Return to Panama City and transfer to Hotel Marbella (or similar). Afternoon free for town exploration or relaxation. (B)

Day 11 Departure
After breakfast transfer to international airport for your flight out. (B)
